Mr Sean Carrie

Mr Sean Carrie, President, European Rhinological Society

Mr Sean Carrie has been a Consultant Rhinologist at the Freeman Hospital and University of Newcastle upon Tyne since 1999. His particular interests are surgical education and endonasal pituitary surgery.

He is President of the European Rhinological Society and Past President of the British Rhinological Society. He has leadership roles in both undergraduate and postgraduate education. He is QA lead for the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Specialist Advisory Committee in Otolaryngology. He is Chairman and convenor of both the Newcastle Sinus Surgery and Pituitary courses.

He has collaborative research interests in sinonasal inflammation. He is Chief Investigator of the NIHR funded ‘NAIROS’ multicentre RCT of septoplasty and is a co-recipient in the NIHR ‘NATTINA’ grant assessing clinical and cost effectiveness of adult tonsillectomy.

He is co-editor of the forthcoming Rhinology section of Scott-Brown’s Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, eighth edition.
