Session 54 – FPS Symposium: Facial reconstruction and face transplantation

During this session the speakers will focus their attention on three areas of facial reconstruction – Microtia repair, facial fractures and defects left after excision of Head and Neck skin cancers.

Custom modification in microtia surgery depending upon local skin conditions along with management of external canal atresia will be discussed.

Basic principles of facial reconstruction using clinical examples of lesions, their excision and principles of repair using grafts and local flaps will be discussed.

Attention will also be drawn to the fact that facial fractures can be managed safely and effectively by ENT Head and Neck Surgeons.
